Security officers and guards normally do not make arrests, but have the authority to make a citizens arrest if needed. In fact, the security services actual primary duty is to prevent or deter crime before it happens. Security guard personnel at our security guard agency enforce our security company rules and can protect lives or a property such as a home, apartment building, residential community, office building, parking lot, special event, warehouse, vehicles, shopping center, mall, retail store, sub division, complex, hotel, motel, bank or private venue. Private Security guards and security officer personnel also assist with access control at building entrances and vehicle gates, respond to minor security emergencies such as lost persons, lockouts, vandalism, dead vehicle batteries, etc, and other serious emergencies.
Many security guard officers are required to go through additional security guard training and special security protection training mandated by the state for many security guard jobs or for the carrying of weapons such as firearm, baton, and pepper spray. Some security guard officers are required to complete police certification training for special related duties such as Private Police Officers.
